US Raises Travel Alert to Japan

The U.S. State Department on Saturday raised the travel alert level to Japan from Level 1 to Level 2, calling for increased caution for American citizens traveling to the country.
Officials said the coronavirus originating in China is spreading in Japanese communities via unknown infection routes.

DOT proposes to clarify rule on airline deceptive practices

The Department of Transportation (DOT) has proposed a rule that would clarify the legal meaning of “unfair and deceptive practices” in the airline industry.  
The clarification would apply to potential punitive action against both airlines and ticket agents, including travel advisors. 
The rule, says the DOT, would benefit consumers, airlines and ticket agents alike by providing more certainty as to what constitutes an unfair or deceptive practice.

Will Coronavirus Spur Asian Countries To Reduce Dependence On Chinese Tourists?
The sudden reduction in the number of international Chinese tourists as a result of the coronavirus outbreak may force the tourism and transportation industries to address long-running concerns about overdependence on a single market – the classic eggs/basket metaphor.
One country reckons it has already taken measures: Singapore. “Our tourist market can grow up even faster. I got tons of tourists queuing up to come to Singapore,” Singapore Trade and Industry Minister Chan Chun Sing reportedly told a business forum this month.
